Pinch of Yum

It would be safe to say that everyone has tried Ramen noodles at least once. From broke college students to busy businessmen, people are not ashamed to say that they have indulged in a package of Ramen or two in their lifetime.

On top of being quick and easy to make, Ramen is affordable on any budget. However, many would agree that it is not something that is oozing with flavor. If you are someone who likes their meals to be flavorful, fun and, most importantly, enjoyable, you might want to try adding different ingredients that will transform this boring packaged block of noodles into a culinary work of art.

A few things you can add to your instant ramen to make it a full fledge meal

1. Veggies

Veggies are always going to be a great way to make any meal better. With Ramen, you will want to add things like baby spinach, scallions, peas and bean sprouts. Not only will this give the dish some color, but it will improve its flavor, give it some texture and make you feel a bit more excited about the fact that you're eating a meal that usually doesn't have much nutritional value.

2. Eggs

Eggs may not seem like the most delicious ingredient to add to your Ramen, but it can give you the protein your diet needs. Simply boil an egg, and when the water is boiling, toss in your noodles. You could hard-boil the egg, but soft boil is better because you'll get to stir the yolk into the broth as you eat.

3. Meat

Just because you have beef or chicken flavored noodles, doesn't mean you will actually get that flavor. One way to ensure your Ramen is as good as you may be expecting it to add actual meat to it. Flank steak and chicken are ideal choices, but you can use any meat you prefer. Add in some veggies and you've got a completely upgraded Ramen meal.

4. Spices

Spices may not seem like an upgrade, but when you are dealing with a meal that is suffering from a lack of flavor, they can work wonders. You first need to determine what exactly you want your Ramen to taste like. Are you looking for something spicy or just want to add more flavor? That will likely lead you to chili powder, pepper, and even cinnamon.

5. Sauces

People love sauces, so when eating your Ramen, don't forget that this is an option if you want to improve your experience. Not all sauces will go well with these noodles, but for the most part, you can use chili bean sauce, fish sauce, and hot sauce. You don't need to add a lot, but just enough to take your dish from boring and bland to fun and exciting.

6. Cheese

Next to sauces, the one thing people really love on their food is cheese. One particular recipe that people like that incorporates cheese and meat is chili cheese Ramen. It is similar to chili cheese fries, but instead of fries you use Ramen. However, if this doesn't sound appealing, you can always simply melt pieces of cheese on top of your noodles and dig in.

7. Butter

Butter can have a significant impact on any meal, which is why people often choose to incorporate it into many of the dishes they cook. By adding a tablespoon of butter to your noodles, you can have what many would consider the perfect bowl of Ramen. Your noodles will be softer and just taste better. Of course, you do have the option to add in a sauce or another ingredient that will really give your noodles the flavor you want and need.

Ramen noodles are boring for the most part, but people still love them, whether they are plain or spruced up. When upgrading your Ramen meal, you are not limited to using one of these methods per package. You can add all of the extra ingredients that you see fit. The important thing is that whatever you choose to add improves the taste of your meal and allows you to enjoy it more than you usually do when you opt for Ramen for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
