Looking for a creative, low-cost appetizer recipe that is super easy to make? These wonton pepperoni pizzas are it! You only need four ingredients and 15 minutes to make them. What could be easier?
If you’ve never cooked with wonton wrappers (or larger egg roll wrappers), you should give it a try. You can use them to make all kinds of delicious treats: Mozzarella sticks, wonton crackers, potstickers, cream cheese wontons, Nutella-banana egg rolls, apple hand pies, and much, much more. Since this recipe only uses a fraction of a package of wonton wrappers, you’ll have plenty left over to experiment with.
I like this particular recipe because I love a good thin-crust pizza. Using a wonton wrapper as a base makes for a super crispy, cracker-like crust. They’re perfect for an appetizer because they’re not too filling – not like traditional pizza, at least.
I also like the cost of this recipe. A package of wonton wrappers costs about $3.00, and I only used a fourth of the package. To save money on Feta cheese, I purchased it off of the grocery store salad bar instead of buying an entire package. All in all, this recipe cost less than $3.50 to make. Not bad!
Variations:
If you’re not fond of pepperoni and Feta cheese, experiment with other pizza toppings! Here are some variations to try:
The trick is to keep the toppings light and thinly sliced. Also, avoid watery toppings (like pineapple or tomatoes) or you may end up with a soggy appetizer.
Serve these straight out of the oven or after they’ve cooled. Either way, they’re delicious!
