Having a few scratches is not too bad if you give it to a child since they will most likely drop it or scratch it

Better read the descriptions if you are going to buy one.
Some say
"Notes:
this item has scratches on the top housing and on the display area. Product Grade:
4 - Significant scratches or scuffs"

I saw that--I got one that was product grade 5 with the AC and Av adapter that said it had scratches on the casing. They also have a 30 day Return policy with free return shipping so I figured worth a shot :D

Wow! We bought a portable DVD player maybe 5 years ago and paid at least $50. It was since "borrowed;" what a great price to replace it!
