About this Deal

Peloton Interactive's redesigned and lower-cost treadmill will relaunch in the United States next Monday, August 30.

Priced at $2,495, the Tread machine is slated to go on sale in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. on Monday, the company stated in a news release that uses the word "safety" nine times. The Tread's reintroduction comes after it and the Tread+ were recalled in May following more than 70 safety incidents, including a child’s death.

The new features include:
  • A Tread lock - punching in a four-digit, digital passcode before the treadmill’s belt will run
  • A physical safety key that a runner can insert to come to a quick stop, if needed
  • The speed and incline knobs have been placed on the side rails closer to where a runner’s arm naturally swings, so it’s easier for users to change the intensity of a workout mid-run
  • “Easy to find” stop button if runners need to shut the machine down fast
