wrong-Newer mobos just only have 1 channel for IDE devices. This is because SATA DVD burners don't offer that much of a performance boost while costing more. I currently have a DVD burner in one IDE channel, and an IDE drive in the other, even though I've got a high-end 680i mobo. I'm going to go SATA when hybrid drives become decently affordable.

Its has been my experience that in "everyday usage" situations you will NEVER move enough data to fill an IDE bus channel. Unless you are doing some SUPER WEIGHTY video editing of like HD quality files you would never notice any difference between IDE and Serial Hard Drives or Optical drives.

i agree with moose 70%--SATA has a much higher theoretical (interface) and Real-life bandwith. If you get a good SATA HD w/ 16mb cache, you can have transfer speeds 20-30% higher than IDE speeds. Thus, SATA drives are great for people who download/move lots of data or media files. I have over 25gigs of music alone and it takes an eternity to move all of it from one drive to another for backup.

Not available for me either @ Virginia zipcode =(

Add hard drive to cart than add a box of paperclips ($.29). Than add the Coby CD player stereo system, apply coupon to make it free ( 83606211 exp?) and -$60 MIR bringing your total to $15.28 shipped.

You can just get an external hard drive enclosure for 10 bucks, and just hook it up to a usb port, and take it out when u dont use it.

The rebate may work again, thus making this a sweet deal, but really, who wants to waste an entire IDE port on only 100GB...
