A second round of stimulus checks could take weeks or months to arrive as Democrats and Republicans remain at odds over the details of another trillion-dollar stimulus bill.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin have struggled to agree on items such as financial aid for state and local governments and protection from COVID-19 liability for employers.
"The speaker, on a number of issues, is still dug in," Mnuchin told reporters on Friday.
The two sides could still hash out a bill before the November 3 election "if the president wants to," Pelosi said on Thursday.
However, some legislators don't expect a bill to be passed until next year, The Wall Street Journal said.
