Most of what I really need To know about how to score deals, And what to do with them and how to be, I learned in dealsplus.com.
Wisdom did not show up At the front door of graduate school, But right there in between Hot and Freebies.
These are the things I learned:
Share every good deal.
With millions of people scouring the web for lower prices on everything, what interests others may surprise you.
Perform due diligence by checking if a deal has been posted before submitting it. Do another search using different key words. If your link goes through the Submit stage, check after posting it.
Don't hate people.
Duplicates are inevitable, even when people check before and after posting. Better to accept it now: You will be duped. And you will dupe others.
Put things in perspective.
You cannot control everything. A Duplicate may get Front-paged while your original post collects cobwebs. It happens. Let go. Move on.
Clean up your own mess.
Duplicates are completely unintentional. If it's brought to your
attention that you've posted a Duplicate, Expire or Flag your deal as a
decent person would. If you posted a copy deliberately (and refuse to
take it down), well, shame on you.
Don't take things personally.
will be times when you post what you believe to be Front Page material,
only to find it just sitting there with not one additional plus+ two
days later. Don't fret. The world is not against you. Sometimes people
just get sick of mice... even if they're only 6 bucks.
Say you're sorry when necessary.
as much as people don't take things personally, nobody likes for their
deals to be duplicated. Besides, it's just common courtesy.
Wash your hands before you eat.
And this is just common sense.
you see a deal and think it's noteworthy, why not also give it a plus+?
Saying "Thank you." or "Great find!" is nice; giving a plus+ shows that
you mean it.
Plus+ and comments are good for you.
help bump your deals up. Show your appreciation by acknowledging them
in your own ways. Plus+ back. Comment back. Something back.
Live a balanced life.
has the vacuum-like potential to suck you in and make you forget about
the world around you. Don't forget about the world around you. There
will always be deals and sales, but there is only one now. So stop skipping meals and showers.
Win some and lose some.
dealsplus.comsers are FAST.
More often than not, others will beat you to posting the best deals. If
this happens a lot, take a different course of action: Be faster. Look elsewhere if you must.
And hunt and search and submit and hunt.
Hunt down a bargain, perform a Search to check if it's been posted, Submit your find, and hunt down the next one.
And rinse and repeat.
your formula won't happen overnight. Even the top dealsplus.comsers have
to do and redo, to figure out the process that works best for them.
Take a nap every afternoon.
You're going to need the energy to post all those awesome finds. More importantly, to post the awesome finds first.
Go out into the world.
may be eating and bathing regularly but spending every other waking
moment online. Don't do that. Don't stop spending quality time with the
people in your life. Remember the outdoors. Some fresh air will do you
Watch out for troublemakers.
Thumb Down your deals for the silliest reasons or for no reason at all.
Pay no mind to them. They are probably very unhappy.
Hold hands and stick together.
every troublemaker, there are more good people. Nice, friendly folks
litter the website. Stay on the same side and remember that it's all
about bargain-hunting, not necessarily "wheeling and dealing". There is a difference.
Be aware of MODs.
are like Big Brother, with their omnipresence and authority, but
without the oppression. They know what they're doing. It's evident from
how much and how fast the website is growing.
By no means is this a claim that I've mastered the art of dealsplus.com. After all, it's probably more of an exact science.
