My $0/Month and $0.00/Per Minute Landline Phone…

4 1
Here’s what I did:-I bought the OBi110 for $49.99 and a Vtech Dect 6.0 cordless phone with caller ID and speakerphone for $19.54 last week. Additional cordless phones are available for just $14.95-I opened up a new Google Voice account (there’s a limit of 1 per email address) and got a vanity number. (Google Voice allows you to search their database of free phone numbers for any combination of numbers or letters)-I charged the cordless phone for 24 hours and then set it up.  With the easy instructions I was able to set it up in less than 15 minutes and the call quality has been very good! It displays the caller ID number for incoming calls and Gmail will even notify you of and transcribe voicemails!Google has already announced that the free calling will last through 12/31/11. After that nobody knows, but here’s hoping Google continues to allow the free calls forever!

Nice post. I have been using this for a while to attend all my work meeting when i work remotely. I think I wanted to mention ib your post is that its 2012 going on not 2011! :) you said free calling will last through 12/31/2011 but it should be 12/31/1012!
Thanks for the info on how to set up the phone to google voice.

i been using this over 6 months now but i have the obi100 and its great works like a regular phone the only downside is that you cant call 911 in an emergency but if you have a cell phone this is not a problem. you can call others with the obi100 or obi110 even if they are in another country and its free, they also have an iphone app you can use it to make phone calls by calling your obi box and then transfer the call, very good feature if you are outside the usa save some money in long distance
