is finally here, and if you’re like me, you’re ready to put away your
down coat, and shearling boots, and wool sweaters, and hit the stores in
search of new goodies! Of course, if you’re like me,
you’re also on a budget … making it all the more important to know when
to splurge and when to save as you stock up for the season.
Premium denim: If you live in jeans like so many of us do, invest in a
“top shelf” pair in your go-to cut. They’ll fit you fabulously and as
long as you treat them well (don’t put them in the dryer!), you’ll
certainly get your money’s worth.
A leather bag: If you’re lusting after leather this spring, it’s worth
paying for the real deal. Stick to classic and timeless styles -- like
simple totes and satchels -- and versatile colors, and you’ll be able to
carry your beautiful bag around for years.

Not only will a classic gold watch never go out of style, but you will
wear it every single day. Treat yourself to a good one!
Statement jewelry: If you doubt you’ll wear it for more than one
season, don’t worry about it lasting more than one season! There are so
many places to find insanely inexpensively statement jewelry that’s
adorable and on-trend, so don’t spend the big bucks.
Lightweight jackets: If you’re looking for lightweight jackets and
layers, forget what you spent on your winter coat. Sure, it’s worth
splurging on a giant down coat you can brave the elements in, but when
it comes to cotton, canvas, and nylon jackets, no need to pay a pretty
Maxis and sundresses: If you’re already dreaming of summer and combing
the racks for maxis and sundresses, don’t get too carried away. Unless
you’re in need of formal dresses or work wear where quality is crucial, there is no shortage of
adorable super inexpensive casual summer dresses.
