Shopping on a Budget: Tips for Fashion-Savvy Shoppers

4 1
It's not that it's hard to find cheap clothes ...  It's just hard to find cheap clothes that you actually like!  So, for all you fashion-savvy ladies out there, looking for on-trend clothes on a budget, I’ve pulled together my top tips for finding affordable clothes that you’ll still be excited to wear …

Got a general idea of what you want? Look for coupons and sales first.

Let’s say you need a new spring jacket.  Instead of just stopping in any old store or browsing sites you like, start out on!  Search Clothing Coupons to see if there are any online coupon codes or printable codes available for stores you like, and then try searching Clothing Deals to see if there are any great sale events going on.  Plenty of stores carry jackets, so start out browsing the ones with coupons or sales.

Got your heart set on something specific? Comparison shop.

Sure, sometimes you fall in love with something that’s only available at a certain store.  But a lot of the time, you fall in love with something that’s available all over the place!  For example, you find a pair of Steve Madden pumps in a magazine that you must have.  Instead of buying them the first place you see them, Google the style name and see where they’re available.  See who has the best price and use to see if anyone is currently offering a coupon or promotion.

Just feel like shopping? Know where you can get away with shopping cheap.

Unfortunately, sometimes cheap looks cheap.  But, if you’ve got a good eye and some patience, there are a couple of retailers out there with great prices and fabulous clothes.  Old Navy, Forever21, and Target all offer on-trend inexpensive clothing and are perfect destinations for stocking up on basics and buying seasonal items that you may not even like by next year.  Shopping online sometimes makes it easier to find what you’re looking for (and definitely makes it easier to browse sale items!), but it can be beneficial to see the items in person because photos sometimes look better than the actual items.

Afraid to shop online? Don’t be!

If you’re looking for more luxurious items without the steep price tag, flash sale sites like Gilt Groupe and HauteLook offer limited time online sale events featuring designer goods.  Meanwhile, offers unique discounted (as well as full price) jewelry, accessories, and apparel from sellers big and small.  And shoe fanatics are bound to fall in love with ShoeDazzle, which let’s you pick out one pair of shoes a month for a low monthly fee.

Of course, if you’re interested in shopping more “traditionally,” remember that many stores offer online coupon codes without running matching in store promotions.  And the sale section on any website, is likely to be more browseable and better stocked than any sale rack!
