Some Things You Might Not Have Known You Can Recyle

7 1
In my small town we have what is called "single stream" recycling.  It's really great - everything goes into this big blue barrel on wheels.  No sorting at all and almost everything is recyclable.  But, every once in a while, we have an item that I am not sure about so I go look it up.  Having done that recently for a small electronic item I decided to do some research and write an article on the subject.

Here are some of the more interesting, and sometimes unusual, items that I found that can be recycled though you may have to take them or mail them to a particular place.

APPLIANCES- In my area Goodwill will take appliances.  There are a few places that actually come and pick them up as well.

BATTERIES- These you can, if nowhere else, be sent off to BatteryRecycling.com

COMPACT FLUORESCENT BULBS- You can take these to Ikea for recycling.

EYE GLASSES- The Lions Club wants your old glasses.

WIGS- Your hospital or hospice might take these for cancer patients.

INK/TONER CARTRIDGES -Recycleplace.com pays a dollar each.

SPORTS EQUIPMENT -PlayItAgainSports.comis a place where you can resell or trade.

TENNIS/SPORTS SHOES- NikeReuseAshoe.com will take them.

MATTRESSES- You can list these on Yahoo's Freecycle network and somebody will happily come to your house and pick them up.  On Freecycle you can only give something away or request something but no money can change hands.

HANGERS- You can actually take these back to the dry cleaners.  They are happy to reuse them.

TENNIS  BALLS- Rebounceswill take them off your hands.

BRAS - There's an app for that.  Well, there isn't but you can go to BraRecycling.com to recycle 'em.

There are a great many more.  What I found is that you can recycle just about anything.  To find a place to take your old stuff remember that Google is your friend and go look it up!

Lol, maybe I need to pull my old bra out of the trash and recycle it! This is great as usual, erick99.
