About this Deal
|Prime Day 2019 is now officially over, and Amazon has tallied all the numbers. This year, Amazon sold more than 175 million items during the two day shopping event -- which is more sales than its Black Friday and Cyber Monday events combined!|
Though the online retail giant won't disclose actual sales figures, they did call this year's Prime Day "the largest shopping event in Amazon history."
For instance on Monday and Tuesday, Amazon sold more of their devices, such as the Echo Dot and Fire TV Stick, over a two-day period than it ever has before. Amazon also sold over 100,000 laptops, 200,000 TVs, 300,000 headphones, and over 1 million toys. Top selling items in the U.S. this year were the Instant Pot DUO60, LifeStraw Water Filter, and 23andMe Ancestry Kits.
Going further, because you had to be a Prime member to access the sale, Amazon said that it added more new Prime members on July 15th than ever before in a single day. In addition, almost as many people signed up again the next day, on July 16th.
Amazon's rivals, such as Walmart, Target and Macy's, also hosted competing shopping events that delivered an average 68% boost in sales. So, you can expect even better sales next year.
With the success of this year's Prime Day, we not only look forward to what Amazon has in store next year, but also what rival retailers will do as well.
