About this Deal

Ever wonder where travelers’ unclaimed belongings end up? For the past 50 years, airline and bus passengers’ orphaned items landed in a discount center in Scottsboro, Alabama. And now, for the first time, Unclaimed Baggage is letting you shop online.

The business started in 1970, when a young Alabama entrepreneur named Doyle Owens took a borrowed a pickup truck and a $300 loan up to Washington D.C. and bought his first load of unclaimed baggage from Trailways Bus Line. At first, he sold the contents on card tables in an old rented house. Gradually, the business formed relationships with airlines and became the country’s only lost luggage store.

Over the years, in-the-know bargain hunters have flocked to the 50,000-square-foot Unclaimed Baggage Center to comb over travelers’ forgotten designer sunglasses, lost headphones, left-behind laptops, abandoned watches and much more. Now they can do it from the comfort of their sofas.
