100,000 Pounds of Ground Beef Recalled

About this Deal

The nation's largest beef processor, JBS USA, has recalled almost 100,000 pounds of ground beef because of possible E. coli contamination. No confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the products have been reported yet.

E. coli can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea, and abdominal cramps two to eight days after exposure. It can also cause kidney failure in children 5 years and under or in older adults.

The possibly contaminated beef was distributed in California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington in packages of 8-10 pounds marked as "Blue Ribbon Beef."

The ground beef was shipped to retail distributors for further processing and food service distributors for institutional use in California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

These are the packages that have been recalled:
  • Ground Beef 81/19 (81% lean) Coarse Grind bearing product code 42410

  • Ground Beef 93/07 (93% lean) Coarse Grind bearing product code 42413

  • Ground Beef 85/15 (85% lean) Coarse Grind bearing product code 42415
