MoviePass Exposed Users' Personal Information

About this Deal

MoviePass, MoviePass, MoviePass....what have you done now? (shakes head disapprovingly)

Were you a MoviePass subscriber? If so, then your debit card and other personal information may have been exposed.

Security researcher Mossab Hussein told TechCrunch earlier this week that he found an open database containing millions of MoviePass subscriber records. Worse yet, that unencrypted list continued to expand on Tuesday.

The records, of over 58,000 customers, contained debit card numbers, expiration dates, billing information, names and postal addresses. Everything a would-be hacker would need...

MoviePass released the following statement:

"MoviePass takes this incident seriously and is dedicated to protecting our subscribers’ information. We are working diligently to investigate the scope of this incident and its potential impact on our subscribers."

MoviePass went on further to say that they will contact affected subscribers after their internal investigation is complete.
