Toyota Recalls 1.7 Million More Vehicles!

About this Deal

Toyota just announced another recall. This time for 1.7 million North American vehicles!

The reason for the recall? An ongoing, potentially deadly issue involving shrapnel from exploding passenger side airbags.

This Takata airbag recall has affected nearly every major automaker. These affected airbags were made with ammonium nitrate and are prone to exploding upon deployment, which could potentially hurl fiery shrapnel into passengers.

To date, at least 23 people worldwide have died from incidents involving these defective airbags.

Toyota Vehicles Affected by Recall Include:
  • 4Runner (2010 through 2016)
  • Corolla (2010 through 2013)
  • Matrix (2010 through 2013)
  • Sienna (2011 through 2014)

You can check if your vehicle is affected by this recall by checking out Toyota's website. You'll also receive a mailed notification, which will start sending out in late January.

Lexus has similarly issued a recall for the same reason on the following vehicles:
  • ES 350 (2010 through 2012)
  • GX 460 (2010 through 2017)
  • IS 250C (2010 through 2015)
  • IS 350C (2010 through 2015)
  • IS 250 (2010 through 2013)
  • IS 350 (2010 through 2013)
  • IS-F (2010 through 2014)

Odd that the same article references 1 million Fords recalled but this DP item stops right before that. Oh well, if you have an affected vehicle you have probably rec'd quite a bit of postal mail regarding this.
