GameStop Soon Closing 200 Stores Globally

About this Deal

In the wake of Apple's 2019 event, GameStop just announced that they are closing between 180 to 200 stores globally by the end of this fiscal year.

Since last year alone, 195 GameStop locations have closed, and back in August the company had to lay off 120 employees.

GameStop CEO George Sherman released the following statement:

"Over the last couple of months, we implemented changes that require us to make tough, but necessary decisions for the benefit of our organization moving forward."

This recent announcement in store closings brings the total number of closures in the retail market to over 8,200 stores, including stores such as Payless, Victoria's Secret, JCPenney, and more. See a full list of stores closing this year here.

Seems they've been focusing on selling a lot of pop-culture items such as Funko
