The Gruga line of office chairs affected by the recall was imported by the Sauder Woodworking company. The chairs were sold at Meijer, Menards, Shopko and Target and other stores nationwide, and online retailers including BestBuy.com and Kohls.com between August 2009 to September 2012. They cost between $79 and $399.

Officials say, so far, 17 people have reported being injured when part of the seat plate breaks and they have fallen out of the chair. The most severe injuries have been bumps and bruises.

The recalled chairs are entertainment, executive, manager's and task chairs with the brand name "GRUGA - Seating from Sauder." The chairs are sold in a variety of fabrics and colors. The model number and Universal Product Code (UPC) are on a tag attached to the bottom of the seat. A blue date code is stamped on the legal disclaimer label on the underside of the chair seat. Recalled chairs are dated August 2009 and later.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled chairs and contact Sauder for a free replacement seat plate and attachment tool. The number for Sauder: (888) 800-4590 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
